Gardening for Food

Growing some of your own food will require at least a modest financial investment even for the smallest herb or vegetable gardens or containers. But the rewards and returns on that modest investment extend beyond financial. Many gardeners experience mental, emotional, and physical benefits from gardening. And, it has been shown that when you involve children in gardening activities, they are more likely to willingly eat more fruits and vegetables.

Curious about where to start your gardening journey?

  • Do you want to grow in a container, in the ground, or in a raised bed?
  • How many hours of sunlight do you receive?
  • Are you worried about garden pests and wildlife?
  • What kind of vegetables, fruits, and herbs are you interested in?

Don’t know the answer to one or more of these?

Use this tool to determine how to start on your vegetable garden journey today!
